- Begin your walk at daybreak when temperatures are coolest.
- Always carry plenty of water with you and stay hydrated.
- Wear sunscreen.
- Wear loose fitting long pants and long sleeved tops to help provide extra protection from the sun.
- Wear a hat or carry an umbrella for extra sun protection.
- Pay attention to weather reports and don't walk during times of high temperature warnings.
- Stop and rest in a shaded place (preferably indoors with air conditioning) if necessary.
- Choose walks such as the North Strip or South Strip which have portions of the walks indoors (as they pass through the Strip casinos).
- Do not walk right before, during, or right after a rain storm (flash floods are common in the summer months and some of our walks are through beautiful washes that are landscaped for walking however these low areas can turn into raging rivers during a flash flood).
- If in doubt, contact a POC for the walk you want to do for further information.
