UNLV Volksmarch

Valentines Day we did a revision of UNLV.  Going to the statue of Jerry.  Rudiger was here from Berlin and we were all glad to see him as we missed him and Vicki at XMAS.  Rudiger was very business last October doing the Freedom Walks in Washington DC and a Salt Mine in Germany.

Boulder City Volksmarch

January 18, 2014 we did our group walk in Boulder City.  I am now just posting these pictures.  As a group we redesigned the route to walk past a public restroom for the 10K walkers.  I believe I heard shouts of "Alleluia".  Brenda....

Join Us for the China Ranch Date Farm Walk

The Las Vegas High Rollers and Strollers volksmarch group will be making a trip over to Tecopa, California on March 29th for a 6k/10k volksmarch.  This will be a beautiful, AVA-sanctioned walk which will culminate in a trip to the gift shop where they sell dates and other items as well as their famous date shakes.  Plan to join us!

The info:

  • Start time: 9am
  • Trail:  Our route will wind through the date farm and will include lush riparian strips and a waterfall that are excellent habitat for birding, narrow rock canyons, winding arroyo badlands, mining and railroad ruins, as well as Paleo-Indian campsites.  Note that this is desert terrain which will make it difficult if not impossible for strollers and wheelchairs to navigate.
  • Award:  A customized patch will be available for purchase to commemorate the walk.
  • Fees: There is no fee to enter China Ranch.  Standard walk fees apply.  There is no pre-registration.
  • Bring: Water, your camera, a bag to carry out your trash
  • Directions: From Los Angeles (approx. 230 miles) Take Interstate 15 North to Baker. Exit at Baker and take highway 127 north to Old Spanish Trail Highway. Go east on Old Spanish Trail Highway to Furnace Creek Road and turn right. Follow the signs to China Ranch. From Las Vegas (approx. 77 miles) Take Interstate 15 South to highway 160. Go west (toward Pahrump) to Tecopa Highway. Go west on Tecopa Highway (which becomes Old Spanish Trail Highway in California) to Furnace Creek Road and turn left. Follow the signs to China Ranch.

North Strip Walk

Our group enjoyed a wonderful walk along the North Strip as we got to see how the properties along the Strip have been decorated for Chinese New Year.
